The Village of Sutherland is provided retail electric service by Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD). NPPD’s Gerald Gentleman Station, the largest generating facility in Nebraska, is located approximately six miles south of Sutherland. Contact: 877-275-6773

Propane gas is available for residential and commercial uses at Sutherland Hi-Line Cooperative. Contact: (308)386-4402

The Municipal water system in Sutherland is supplied by three wells, located south of town, which have an average depth of 120 feet. Sutherland has a Municipal sanitary sewage system and a storm sewer system.

Privately owned and operated waste removal services are available in Sutherland, provided by Schaben Sanitation/Waste Connections. Waste is hauled to a disposal site in North Platte, 20 miles east of Sutherland.

Recycling Information:

The Village offers a recycling drop off point just west of the Village Municipal Office (1200 First Street) for cardboard, aluminum, newspapers and tin. With the help of a grant received in 2016, the Village was able to purchase a roll off truck to haul our own recycling.
